The Faculty of Accounting and Informatics hosts the Research Focus Area of ICT and Society at the Durban University of Technology, in Durban South Africa.

Prof Olugbara, the Executive Dean of the Faculty, spearheads the focus area. Research initiatives include all levels of ICT and Society. Machine learning is used in health, agriculture and other domains, while smart cities form an integral part of many projects.
